We know that official history in almost every country states that British Naval Gunnery was bad during Dardanelles Bombardment and their accuracy was around 2 percent.
A photo taken from one of the ships which joined Dardanelles Bombardment refutes this claim.
This photo shows the bombardment of Kumkale Fort which was one of the most important forts protecting the entrance of the Dardanelles Strait.
Kumkale's ammunition depot explodes with the first round, first hit. A 100 percent accuracy. There is no trace of another explosion nearby. A perfect gunnery, perfect hit in terms of military technicalities. This could be called a surgical bombardment at the same accuracy level of today's gunners. (Maybe even better since we dont know the range of the incoming fire...)
It is also interesting that small boats carrying british landing parties passing very close to the shore (small parties land after battleship bombardment, place explosives to the gun positions and explode them).
Such a situation is in direct contradiction with what official historians say. There was not an Ottoman resistance except forts and the soldiers stationed in and around the forts.
There is another photo taken minutes later after the first photo. You will be able to spot the time duration between the two photos by looking at the boats' position.
Shells keep raining on the forts outer defenses after the first direct hit inflicted on the ammunition depot by battleships. Almost all of the shells landed on the designated targets.
It is also obvious from the photograph, there was not a return fire coming from the fort because fort guns were probably took a direct hit in the first fire from the battleship, probably from HMS Queen Elizabeth...
Two photographs prove that Allied gunnery was deadly accurate...
